Let me begin by apologizing for the font size. I have spent too much time trying to correct the issue so I am moving on to writing anyway before too much time passes. We have been in Utah since Tuesday, June 12th. The scenery here is breathtaking. We are in a location that is surrounded by the expansive mountain ranges of the Rocky Mountains. The view from our hotel room is incredible. We overlook the light blue waters of Utah Lake with a massive mountain range in the background. Being a Florida flatlander, I am in awe each time I look around. Enough about the beauty of this part of the country and on to the real business of our visit. Upon or arrival to Salt Lake City, we were feeling very hungry and even more exhausted. We decided that it would be best to grab a bite to eat and squeeze in a nap so we could really take in and enjoy our reunion of Idie and Buelo. At about 7:00pm mountain time we finally made our way to Idie's house. As we approached the door, Buelo reminisced how Idie as a 5 year old used to greet him by running and jumping into his arms when he visited the Strauss family while stationed in the Panama Canal Zone during the 1940's. We kidded and laughed at the thought of Idie running and jumping into Buelo's arms almost 70 years later during this greeting. Idie along with her sweet little companion (Holly - Idie's dog) opened the door with opened arms and a huge welcoming smile on her face. From my the pictures that Buelo shared with me, the face of the woman standing before me still closely resembled the cute little 5 year old from nearly 70 years ago. Needless to say we quickly settled in as if we had seem each other regularly over the years (just like family). Much of our initial conversation centered around catching each other up on our immediate families and those of the other 3 Strauss sisters (Idie's sisters). Pictures were shared followed by stories of the days back in the canal zone. Some of those stories will be shared in the posts to come.
